Waitakaruru WTP

  • Client: Hauraki District Council
  • Year: 2015

This Project involved upgrading Waitakaruru WTP supply’s 6500m3/day for the Hauraki District Council’s Plains Community, in conjunction with Kerepehi WTP. Haurkai District Council also set out to upgrade the Waitakaruru WTP to conform to the Drinking Water Standards of New Zealand (DWSNZ).  In order to do this, Hauraki District Council installed a new UV plant to provide an additional 3-log credits to their water supply.

This was a design and build contract.  Service Engineer’s scope of works included selecting materials/equipment, delivery, installation and commissioning of the new UV unit(s), the booster pumps and all tie-ins.  Civil works and the construction of a new building to house the UV units was also part of the Contract.

SEL opted to provide two WEDECO UV units, which would each run at 50% capacity.  This would allow for further (double) UV capacity if required in the future.
