NSWWTP De-Watering Building

  • Client: Watercare Services Limited
  • Year: 2010

The main contract was awarded to Service Engineers Limited who subcontracted Coastline Construction Group for all civil and building work, and Current Electrical for electrical works.

The majority of the contract was civil based and allowed for: a new entrance to the Eastern side of the Dewatering Building and a new turn area to the West side, as well as reinstating areas of existing roadway that had deteriorated by concreting them for longevity. The contract also involved: removal and relocation, as required, of existing process piping; removal of windows and timber frame walls and reinstatement of sections to suit a new roller shutter door; supply and installation of a new roller shutter door; relocation of a pedestrian access door and closing an existing door opening with a glass window; removal of the disused lime process feed conveyor, hopper and associated mountings for storage.

Work had to be scheduled around truck delivery/pickups of waste materials and vehicle access was limited. The project was broken down to keep the plant operations running, where possible.  All staff working on the site had to be fully immunised against all possible diseases and infectons associated with waste water treatment plants. The site presented general civil hazards including excavators and concrete pours as well as general moving vehicle hazards.
